    Open Letter to President Trump

    Dear President Trump,

The United States is under siege—not from a foreign army, but from a neighboring state that has devolved into a narco-regime. Mexico, once a partner, is now a liability. Its drug cartels, virtually indistinguishable from the government, are poisoning our citizens with fentanyl and destabilizing our southern frontier. As outlined in The Libertarian Times’ April 25, 2025 feature, “The Case for U.S. Military Action Against Mexico’s Narco-State,” these criminal syndicates control as much as 80% of Mexican territory. The result? More than 100,000 American deaths annually, and a southern border in perpetual crisis.

Mr. President, you have never shied away from naming threats plainly and confronting them with bold action. Your proposal to use military force against the cartels was not only justified—it was visionary. We call upon you now to act with resolve, unilaterally if necessary, to dismantle the criminal networks and complicit state actors across our southern border. America cannot afford to wait. The time for diplomatic niceties has passed.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum’s May 3rd rejection of your offer to deploy U.S. troops is more than a diplomatic disagreement—it is a deliberate insult. Cloaked in rhetoric about “sovereignty,” her dismissal masks a dangerous reality: a government too entangled with cartels to take meaningful action. As you rightly pointed out on May 4th aboard Air Force One, her fear of cartel retaliation is not strength—it is surrender. Worse still, she has attempted to weaponize this crisis for political gain, casting the United States as a villain to rally nationalist support and distract from her own impotence.

We must not play along. This is not the time to ask for permission. When American lives are being lost by the thousands, sovereignty becomes a shield for inaction. Precedent exists: in 1989, the United States invaded Panama and removed Manuel Noriega for his role in drug trafficking. Today’s threat is larger, bloodier, and closer. The cartel-state complex in Mexico is not theoretical—it is documented, visible, and deadly. Corruption stretches from municipal precincts to federal ministries, paralyzing any serious attempt at reform.

Sheinbaum’s token gestures—sending troops to “fight” the cartels or dismantling a few drug labs—are political theater. They are designed to deflect blame and maintain the illusion of control. But illusions don’t save lives. Action does.

You have already taken the critical step of designating the cartels as foreign terrorist organizations. This grants the legal framework to launch precision operations: drone strikes, special forces incursions, intelligence campaigns. Surveillance alone will not suffice. Deterrence must be backed by power. America’s enemies—cartels and their enablers—must understand: we do not negotiate with terrorists, and we do not tolerate their accomplices.

President Trump, your leadership has always been defined by courage and clarity. You saw this crisis long before others dared to speak it aloud. You are uniquely positioned to finish what you started: to defend American lives, protect our borders, and reassert the rule of law.

Let history remember you not merely as the man who stood up to the cartels, but as the one who broke them. The one who turned outrage into action and tragedy into triumph. Ignore Sheinbaum’s deflections. Act—not just for today, but for the generations of Americans who deserve a nation free from the reach of narco-terror.

We stand with you. The American people stand with you. And history will stand with the bold.

    With unwavering support,
